How to Develop or Update a Rule
When developing and updating a rule or SAP, a rule template and rule action template must be used:
Responsible offices can draft or update rules to support consistent procedures at TAMU, including Texas A&M University Health Science Center (Texas A&M Health), School of Law, TAMU at Galveston (TAMUG), and TAMU at Qatar (TAMUQ).
When developing or updating, the following should be considered:
- Is it consistent with System Policies and Regulations?
- Coordinate with Texas A&M Health, School of Law, TAMUG, and TAMUQ to determine how to address operations for TAMU and other TAMU campuses.
Owners are responsible for periodic reviews and the revision of rules and SAPs as processes and procedures change. Each rule/SAP should be reviewed at a minimum of every five years. If a rule becomes obsolete, the responsible office should request that TAMU delete the rule or SAP.
Send the draft or proposed revisions in the rule template format and the rule action template to the Office of Risk, Ethics, and Compliance for review and further processing. For assistance, contact Aline Lovings at 979-845-0847 or [email protected].
